This is hands down on the best books I’ve read all year, I am kicking myself that I didn’t read it sooner. Author Delia Owns has a beautiful writing style that perfectly captures the unique setting of marshes in Barclay Cove.
The story follows the life of Kya Clark, known around town as the Marsh Girl, from the time she is abandoned by her mother at age six then her siblings and even alcoholic and abusive father soon after. Kya learns how to care for herself and become so much more than the marsh trash that the entire town believes she is.
This story is part coming of age tale, part love story and part mystery. There is something for everyone in a book like this. I can’t wait to recommend this to so many people.
